Before installation

Know what happens next.

A practical guide to getting your business connected. ShanaLink coordinates your order and explains the work, equipment and charges before you commit.

Before any engineer visit

  • Arrange an authorised adult to provide access and agree equipment positions.
  • Obtain any necessary landlord or building permissions and flag restricted access or unusual cable routes.
  • Keep the proposed equipment area clear and provide suitable power sockets for both ONT and router where needed.
  • Tell us about alarms, lifts, payment terminals or other equipment that relies on the current connection.
  • Agree the switching plan before cancelling your existing service.

Full fibre (FTTP)

  1. 1

We check your exact address, available network and whether a usable fibre connection is already installed.

  2. 2

For a new connection, the network installer agrees a suitable cable route and ONT position. An ONT is the powered box that connects the fibre to your router. Wall drilling or external work may be needed.

  3. 3

The network completes its connection and activation checks. The router connects to the ONT using Ethernet. We confirm any router configuration or on-site assistance included in your order.

Openreach, CityFibre, Freedom Fibre and Trooli installations can have different limits on cable runs, placement and included work. Your confirmed order sets out the network and installation scope. An existing ONT does not guarantee a remote activation.

SoGEA / copper-based broadband

  1. 1

We check the existing line and whether the chosen broadband service is available at the premises.

  2. 2

The network confirms whether activation can be completed remotely or an engineer appointment is needed. A suitable VDSL modem router connects to the line socket for SoGEA.

  3. 3

Once activated, we check the connection with you and explain the agreed support route. A separate internet phone service is needed if you want business calls.

SoGEA uses copper for the final connection to your premises. Full fibre uses an ONT instead. Do not buy a router until we have confirmed which connection you will use.

Dedicated leased line

  1. 1

We request an address-specific quote and confirm the required bandwidth, handover and contract terms.

  2. 2

A survey may identify cable routes, access permissions, landlord wayleaves or construction work. Any additional charges are presented for agreement before that work proceeds.

  3. 3

The network installs and tests its equipment, followed by the agreed router or firewall setup and service handover.

Delivery dates depend on survey findings, permissions and network work. A target date is not a guaranteed installation date unless your contract expressly provides one.

Business Wi-Fi installation

  1. 1

We discuss your rooms, floors, building materials, device numbers and coverage problems. A site visit may be needed to design the setup.

  2. 2

Your quote separates routers, access points, switches, cabling, configuration and any installation labour. We agree suitable locations and access before work starts.

  3. 3

Where commissioning is included, we configure the agreed network and check coverage in the agreed areas. Guest access and ongoing care are included only when specified.

Buying a router does not include a premises-wide Wi-Fi installation. Router Wi-Fi ratings are not a promise of internet speed or coverage in every room.

IP handsets and business phones

  1. 1

We check handset compatibility, user numbers, call handling, power or PoE availability, and the chosen voice service.

  2. 2

We arrange agreed configuration and any number transfer. Keep your current service active until the transfer and switching plan are confirmed.

  3. 3

Once the voice service is active, we check calls and the agreed features. We explain the emergency-calling and power-loss arrangements applicable to your service.

A handset purchase does not include a phone number, call plan or monthly licence. Internet calling depends on connectivity and power; continuity requirements must be discussed before ordering.

What is included?

Your written quote confirms installation type, included equipment, configuration, delivery, any applicable VAT and any extra work. Enhanced installations, construction and internal cabling are not automatically included. Appointment changes and missed visits are handled under the terms supplied with your order.

If something goes wrong

Contact ShanaLink. We diagnose the issue and coordinate the appropriate support or network engineer. ONT replacement, network fibre work and activation are handled through the authorised network process. We do not promise an immediate repair.
